Longmont Playgrounds and Park Shelters Reopen as of June 8
Longmont Playgrounds and Park Shelters Reopen as of June 8
Playgrounds at City of Longmont parks are officially reopen today (June 8).
Picnic shelter areas also reopen today. No reservations are being accepted for shelters at this time.
Longmont Parks staff will be removing caution tape from playgrounds and shelters beginning today, along with reinstalling swings and other equipment that was removed during the closures. If you encounter a playground area that is still cordoned off, please check back later.
Visitors are reminded to clean and disinfect high-touch areas frequently, as City staff will not be sanitizing these areas.
The following guidelines remain in place for all City of Longmont parks, playgrounds, shelters and other amenities:
- If you feel sick or have flu-like symptoms, please do not visit parks or playgrounds or use shelter areas.
- Individuals using reopened playgrounds and shelters must follow general guidelines for parks usage, including maintaining six-foot social distancing and having face coverings available for when social distancing may not be possible.
- It is impossible to guarantee a risk-free experience; use of playgrounds and shelters is at your own risk. Visitors are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer and wipes.
- No more than 10 individuals may be on a playground or in a shelter area at one time. If there are already 10 people present, visitors are asked to return at a less busy time. Do not congregate around the facilities.
Park restrooms remain open and continue to be cleaned twice daily. Again, visitors are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer and wipes when using these facilities.
The reopening of playgrounds and shelters is in line with new state guidelines that were announced as final on Thursday, June 4. Boulder County Public Health officials did not add any requirements to the state guidelines.
The City continues to review the latest updates from the State of Colorado and Boulder County and will be making decisions on the reopening schedule of recreation facilities.
