This week, Longmont Recreation’s St. Vrain Memorial Building weight room at Roosevelt Park will open to older adults ages 55 and up on a reservation-only basis. The phased reopening of Longmont Recreation facilities follows the Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) guidelines. As with other facilities, patrons will be asked to maintain social distance, refrain from gathering, and to wear a face covering.

“We want to make sure older adults in our community can participate and stay fit in a way that makes sense and that follows the safety protocols outlined by Boulder County Public Health,” says Ben Wagner, Memorial Building Supervisor. Early in the pandemic, many critical businesses such as grocery stores introduced senior-only hours as a way to mitigate transmission of the virus to this highly affected demographic. Longmont Recreation recognizes this community need extends to wellness and fitness opportunities, as well.
