On Wednesday, November 17, 1976, Mayor Al Perenyi cut the ribbon to ceremoniously open the Longmont Senior Center. Fifty years later, Longmont’s population – and senior population – continues to grow. In response, the facility expanded in 1980, 1987, 2001 and 2013. The breadth and number of programs and services offered have grown as well.
“We are honored to be the stewards of the Senior Center as it celebrates its fiftieth anniversary,” said Senior Services Manager Ronnie Maynes. “Its longevity, success and growth are a testament to all the terrific staff, volunteers, participants – and members of the Friends of the Longmont Senior Center – who have given so much of themselves to this community over the years. We invite everyone to join us for this day of celebration and reflection.”
