Longmont to launch new utility billing system Jan. 27
Customers to receive new account number; payments on hold Jan. 21-26
The City of Longmont will launch a new utility billing system on Jan. 27 to better serve Longmont’s growing community.
The City will switch over to the new system from Jan. 21 through Jan. 26. During this time, customers will not be able to make utility payments. Any bills that are due during this period will be paused and can be paid on Jan. 27 without penalty. Bills paid on or before Jan. 20 will be processed normally, except for automatic “electronic check” (ACH) payments which will need to be made by Jan. 16.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we move to a system that will help us serve them better,” said Becky Doyle, Longmont’s chief strategic integration officer. The current billing system has been in place since 2000.
As part of the new system, all utility customers will receive a new account number from the City on or after Jan. 15. Customers who have set up automatic direct bill payment through their bank will need to update their information with the bank. Customers who have set up autopay directly through the City’s online payment site at MyUtilityAccount.longmontcolorado.gov do not need to update their information. The City will mail the number to customers who receive paper bills or e-mail it to those who get an electronic bill. The number will also appear on the first utility bill that customers get after Jan. 27.
Customers who have an online payment account at MyUtilityAccount.longmontcolorado.gov can also get their new account number there. After logging in, the customer should see their address and account number in a blue ribbon across the top of the page. If it’s still the old account number, it will look like two groups of numbers separated by a dash; the new one will be a single group of numbers.
Bills will look the same under the new system. Customers will not need to re-register their online accounts or change their login information.
Utility customers who have questions or need help finding their numbers can call Utility Billing at 303-651-8664. Calls about specific accounts should be made by Jan. 20, before the switch to the new system takes place.
