Longmont to Receive National Award for Affordable Housing Leadership

The City of Longmont will be recognized at the 2026 National Community Development Association (NCDA) conference in Washington, DC for its role in the Wesley Townhomes project. The City will receive the NCDA’s Audrey Nelson Award on February 6, 2026. This award recognizes exemplary uses of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, and particularly those programs that address the needs of families and neighborhoods.

Completed in October 2025, the Wesley Townhomes project created 11 new two- and three-bedroom family units on land donated by – and adjacent to – Heart of Longmont Church. The project’s goal was to help address Longmont’s affordable housing shortage. This development serves households earning 30–40% of Area Median Income (AMI) for Boulder County, with priority for neurodivergent individuals and families—a population with virtually no market-rate housing options.

Wesley Townhomes feature high-quality housing and amenities, providing healthy indoor air quality and proximity to supportive community resources. Two ADA-accessible units are included, designed specifically for neurodivergent residents, incorporating sensory-friendly features and trauma-informed layouts.

The City of Longmont invested $599,541 in HOME grant funding and $1,200,000 in HOME-ARP grant funds to the development, in combination with nearly $4 million in funding from additional sources.

“This award highlights Longmont’s commitment to expanding safe, affordable, and attainable housing,” said City of Longmont Housing Investment Manager Christy Wiseman. “It’s exciting to see Longmont receive national recognition for this special project, which could not have happened without great collaboration between the City of Longmont, our nonprofit development partner The Inn Between of Longmont, Inc., and the Boulder-Broomfield HOME Consortium.”
