Longmont Youth Council Seeks New Members
Longmont Youth Council (LYC) is now seeking new member in the 8th through 12th grade who live in the City of Longmont.
The Longmont Youth Council was established by the Longmont City Council to encourage greater youth participation in the City’s government, and is charged with actively advising the City Council with thoughtful recommendations on issues concerning youth and assisting City Staff in considering youth perspectives in its planning efforts.
Over the last 6 years, the LYC has been involved in many projects which include: Halloween for the Hungry; Tobacco Prevention, Diversity Day, Anti-Vandalism; Sticker Shock, which is a campaign that raised awareness about the legal consequences of purchasing and providing alcohol to minors; among others.
This is a fun and dynamic youth led group that is seeking motivated, committed students that would like to make a difference in our community. They meet the second and the fourth Tuesday of each month from 4 to 5:30 pm at the Youth Center located at 1050 Lashley St. The group is looking to have representation from all the different schools in Longmont.
