LPC contest celebrates “Using Your (Public) Power for Good”

“We’ve been providing Longmont with public power for over 100 years, and we know our customers have put that power to all kinds of beneficial uses: for their family, for their community, or even for a cause they’re passionate about,” LPC spokesman Scott Rochat said. “Whether they’re bringing joy to the neighborhood with their Christmas lights, keeping the air clean with an electric car, or illuminating a good book to read to their child, we want to hear their stories.”

All entries will be placed in a random drawing for a chance to win an Amazon Kindle e-reader.

Public Power Week (Oct. 2-8) celebrates the more than 2,000 towns and cities across the United States that own and operate their own electric utilities. That includes LPC, which offers the second-lowest residential electric rates in the state of Colorado, with an average service reliability (the electric “up time”) of nearly 99.999%

Contestants must be LPC customers. To enter, let us know about your own positive use of public power – whether in words, pictures, music, or any other media of your choice – and email it to LPC@longmontcolorado.gov or send it in a private message to the Facebook page for Longmont Power & Communications – NextLight. All entries must be submitted before the end of the day on Sunday, Oct. 8, and may be used in future publicity.

All ages are welcome to compete. There is no entry fee.

The winner will be drawn at random and notified by Oct. 13. The winning contestant must claim the Kindle prize by Oct. 31 at the Longmont Service Center, 1100 S. Sherman St., where their picture will be taken for a prize announcement.

Anyone with questions about the contest may call 303.651.8793. Details will also be posted on the LPC website.
