May 2022: Bike Rides, Events, Workshops and more!

Bike to Work Day on June 22!

This summer’s Bike to Work Day will take place on Wednesday, June 22.  As in years past, the City of Longmont will host a breakfast station at the west side of Longmont Public Library, on Kimbark Street, from 7-9 am. Stay tuned for further details as the event draws closer.

Wednesday on Wheels

The Bread Rollers continue to roll out every Wednesday morning (weather permitting). Join this social group for a 90-120 minute (20-25 mile) ride in/around Longmont. We conduct safety checks before all rides, and obey all laws and traffic signals. We ride mostly on roads, sometimes encountering “high stress” intersections, sometimes riding on gravel or greenway trails.

  • Currently, we meet in front of the Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave.
  • Please RSVP on Meetup.com, (choose Bread Rollers group) as times change according to weather. Bring a helmet (mandatory for a City-sponsored rides), tuned up bicycle and a tube to fit your wheel size!
  • NOTE: May 18 ride is CANCELED.  Rides will resume on May 25 and continue through the summer/fall.

Thursday Mornings: Cinnamon Rollers “B” Rides

This ride is for beginners, or for those who may not feel completely comfortable with riding in a group, getting quickly through a green light or riding on roads. We will ride for 60-90 minutes (10-15 miles) on greenways, low stress roads and bike lanes, taking learning opportunities at intersections and to address any questions or concerns. Any type of bike is welcome; helmets are mandatory.

  • Meet at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave., on Thursday mornings.
  • Please check Meetup.com (choose the Cinnamon Rollers group) for final meet/departure time.
  • NOTE: May 19 ride is CANCELED.

Ride of the Month: Ride to Hygiene Using Ninth Avenue Bike Lanes

This 12-mile ride has many options, and with only two small inclines, is doable for the beginner rider. If you’ve never been to Hygiene, some of the highlights include Pella Crossing, which features ponds, a lake and trails, and local places to stop for a refreshment and bathroom break. This ride offers bike lanes on all sections except St. Vrain Road, which is a low stress road; if you time it right, you will have no wind heading into Hygiene and will have a tailwind to help you on the “climb” back into Longmont. Enjoy the ride!
