Mayor Celebrates Longmont’s “Gig City” Status
On Tuesday night, Mayor Dennis Coombs officially proclaimed Longmont to be Colorado’s first “Gig City,” recognizing it as the first community in the state to offer symmetrical gigabit uploads and downloads through the NextLight™ fiber-optic downloads.
“The completion of this project fulfills a 21-year dream to provide Longmont with reliable, affordable, high-quality, and high-speed fiber-optic internet service,” Coombs read as part of the proclamation. “I invite all citizens and businesses to celebrate this landmark community achievement.”
