Most City Offices Closed in Observance of Independence Day
Longmont city government observes the Independence Day holiday on Wednesday, July 4. Most City facilities will be closed. The Longmont Recreation Center and Roosevelt Pool will be open from 10 am to 4 pm. Kanemoto Pool will be open from 10 am to 7 pm, and Sunset Pool will be open from 9 to 10 am for lap swim and from 10 am to 5 pm for open swim. Wednesday and Thursday trash, recycling and composting collection will be one day later than usual.
Celebrate the 4th with Music and Fireworks
Begin your holiday fun at noon on Wednesday, July 4, with a picnic and the annual free holiday concert by the Longmont Symphony Orchestra at Thompson Park, 4th Avenue and Bross Street. Then, at about 9:30 pm, enjoy the explosion of fireworks over Longmont. The best view is from within one mile of the Boulder County Fairgrounds. Handicap-accessible parking is available at the fairgrounds’ south Nelson Road entrance with permit. Text LOCO4th to 888777 for daily information on the fireworks show. Special thanks to the Skyline Kiwanis Club, whose generous donation helps make this event possible.
Fireworks Complaints
9-1-1 is for real emergencies, non-emergency calls 303-651-8501.
Residents may call the Longmont Emergency Communications Center at 303-651-8501 to report complaints about fireworks. The caller may choose to remain anonymous or be identified in the course of the complaint. Anonymous calls will be aired to police units in the field, and if a unit is available it will respond to the area of the complaint. If the caller can identify the responsible person(s) for illegal fireworks use and is willing to pursue enforcement action as a witness, then an officer will be assigned the call. When a police officer arrives on site and confirms the misuse of fireworks or use of illegal fireworks, the officer will take the appropriate enforcement action.
