Nearly Done With ’21
Nearly Done With ’21
Several versions of a meme have been going around lately, with the same basic message: don’t even try to predict 2022.
Fair enough. Besides, New Year’s is also a time for looking back … and despite an increasingly bizarre world, our LPC and NextLight community still had a lot of moments worth remembering in 2021. For example:
- NextLight ranked among the fastest of the fastest ISPs in the nation for the fourth year in a row, a record of consistency matched only by Google Fiber.
- LPC battled a major March blizzard, restoring power through the day to about 200 customers, and kept it going without interruption to the remaining 42,000+ homes and businesses.
- Our Efficiency Works energy efficiency services resumed in-person visits, while still continuing to offer virtual efficiency assessments for those still wanting an online option.
- NextLight began to offer the federal Emergency Broadband Benefit, providing heavily discounted or even free internet service to income-qualified customers.
- LPC dedicated a tree in honor of Longmont’s 150th anniversary as a city.
- NextLight unveiled a sharp-looking new website, including a page for checking the network’s status.
- We kept up electrical improvements to maintain and improve our reliability, including a new transformer at one of our substations, as well as the ongoing replacement of our underground transformers with pad-mounted units.
- NextLight announced a new TV Solutions offering to help customers who need assistance cutting the cord, and began to offer new high-speed Wi-Fi 6 routers.
- Longmont was recognized as a SolSmart Gold community for its efforts in making it easier to get and learn about solar energy.
- After seven years of operation, NextLight reached and surpassed 24,000 customers.
- And yes, we joined in celebrating the triumphant return of Longmont Lights to the Longmont downtown.
Yeah, it’s been a full year. We’ve been excited to travel through it with you. And together, I just know that in 2022, we …
Nope. Uh-uh. Ain’t gonna say it.
Happy New Year, everyone.
