New Transit Hub at I-25/CO 119 Is Open for Bus Travel
Longmont’s new center-loading transit stop, located at Interstate 25 and Colorado 119, is now in operation. Named the Firestone-Longmont Hub, it is serviced by the Bustang, the express bus service between Denver and Fort Collins provided by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). The hub was constructed, along with similar stops in Berthoud and Loveland, as part of the Interstate 25 North Express Lanes project.
“These hubs provide new locations for drivers, riders, cyclists, and pedestrians to connect with regional transit,” said City of Longmont Transportation Planning Manager Phil Greenwald. “They’re designed to improve traffic flow and reduce time spent at each stop, so riders can get to and from Denver – as well as Berthoud, Loveland, and Fort Collins – quickly and easily.”
- Weekday – southbound from the new hub to Denver Union Station: 9 trips per day, leaving from 6 am to 4:20 pm. The final return trip from Denver arrives at 7:30 pm. There are no other stops between Firestone-Longmont and Denver Union Station.
- Weekday – northbound to Fort Collins: 9 trips per day starting at 8 am with the last return from Fort Collins at 3:30 pm. The bus stops at Berthoud, Centerra Loveland, and the Harmony Transfer Center before arriving at the Ft. Collins Transit Center.
- Weekends/holidays – southbound to Denver: 4 trips per day to Denver, leaving from 7:35 am to 4:35 pm. The last return trip from Denver arrives at 7:15 pm.
- Weekends/holidays – northbound to Fort Collins: 4 trips per day, starting at 9 am with the last trip back from Fort Collins arriving at 3:45 pm.
While the service is free for now, the cost to go to Denver after the free trial period will be $5 for a single ride. People aged 2-11 will pay $2.50, while seniors/people with disabilities will pay $3.75.
The cost to travel to Fort Collins from the Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub will be $6 for a single ride, $3 for people aged 2-11 years, and $4.50 for seniors and those with disabilities. Discounted multi-ticket rides (10, 20 or 40 ride books) are available.
“These new stops make getting anywhere between Fort Collins and Denver so much more convenient,” added Greenwald. “To help even further, Longmont plans to launch a new on-demand shuttle service to and from the mobility hub in December 2024.”
