Decade of high-quality service to Longmont marked with events, lifetime deal

 

LONGMONT, CO – The time has gone by faster than a high-speed fiber connection. But it’s true: November will mark 10 years since Longmont’s community-owned NextLight internet service connected its first customer.

 

And for this birthday, NextLight has some presents to give.

 

“Our residents have wholeheartedly supported NextLight from the beginning,” City Manager Harold Dominguez said. “With our community behind us, we’ve seen our homegrown internet service become a national leader, demonstrating the kind of high-quality service that becomes possible when your customers are also your neighbors. This milestone isn’t just a celebration for NextLight, but for all of Longmont.”

 

An open-to-the-public birthday party for NextLight will be held 4 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Parkway Food Hall, including free food, door prizes, giveaways, 10% coupons for the food hall and NextLight-themed “mocktails.” The event will also include the announcement of a new discount for the Longmont community.

 

But even before then, those interested in NextLight will have plenty to unwrap, including:

 

• A lifetime $10 per month discount for new customers who subscribe to a gigabit connection or faster by Dec. 31, allowing residential customers to sign up for $59.95 per month.
• The same lifetime $10 per month discount for existing customers who upgrade from 100-megabit service to a gigabit connection or faster by Dec. 31.
• A doubled “Refer-a-Friend” bonus, giving a $100 bill credit to any subscriber who gets a friend to sign up for NextLight service by Dec. 31.

The network’s contributions to Longmont will also be recognized during the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the City event, held this year at 8:30 a.m. Oct 17 at the Longmont Museum.  On Oct. 29, the City will also proclaim Nov. 1-7 as “NextLight Birthday Week,” recognizing the anniversaries of NextLight’s approval by voters (Nov. 1, 2011), the approval of its construction bond (Nov. 5, 2013) and its first customers (Nov. 3, 2014).

 

Since its start 10 years ago as Colorado’s first municipal internet service, NextLight has been repeatedly recognized as one of the fastest internet services in the nation and has frequently been honored for the quality of its service in general. That includes contributing to Longmont’s All-America City award (2018) and its recognition as one of the nation’s best work-from-home cities (2022), being named the best gaming ISP in the nation by PC Magazine (2023) and winning the PC Magazine Readers’ Choice and Employees’ Choice awards (2023). This month, NextLight is a finalist for Best Municipal or Public Connectivity Program at the Broadband Nation Awards in Washington, D.C.

 

NextLight’s success inspired numerous Colorado cities and towns to repeal the state’s limits on broadband as well, three of which now have municipally-owned internet services of their own: Loveland (Pulse), Fort Collins (Connexion) and Estes Park (Trailblazer). The Colorado General Assembly passed a statewide repeal of those limits in 2023.

NextLight celebra su 10.º cumpleaños

La década de servicio de alta calidad a Longmont estará marcada por eventos y ofertas de por vida

 

LONGMONT, CO – Los años han pasado más rápido que una conexión de fibra de alta velocidad. Pero es cierto: Noviembre se cumplirán 10 años desde que el servicio de Internet NextLight, propiedad de la comunidad de Longmont, conectó a su primer cliente.

Y para este cumpleaños, NextLight tiene algunos regalos para regalar.

“Nuestros residentes han apoyado incondicionalmente a NextLight desde el principio”, dijo el administrador municipal  Harold Dominguez. “Con nuestra comunidad detrás de nosotros, hemos visto a nuestro servicio de internet local convertirse en líder nacional, demostrando el tipo de servicio de alta calidad que es posible cuando sus clientes también son sus vecinos. Este hito no es sólo una celebración para NextLight, sino para todo Longmont”.

Se llevará a cabo una fiesta de cumpleaños abierta al público para NextLight a las 4 p.m. 1 de noviembre en Parkway Food Hall, que incluye comida gratis, premios, obsequios, cupones del 10% para Parkway Food Hall y “cócteles sin alcohol” con el tema NextLight. El evento también incluirá el anuncio de un nuevo descuento para la comunidad de Longmont.

Pero antes de eso, aquellos interesados en NextLight tendrán mucho que desenvolver, incluyendo:

• Un descuento de por vida de $10 por mes para nuevos clientes que se suscriban a una conexión gigabit o más rápida antes del 31 de diciembre, lo que permite a los clientes residenciales registrarse por $59.95 por mes.
• El mismo descuento de por vida de $10 por mes para los clientes existentes que actualicen de un servicio de 100 megabits a una conexión gigabit o más rápida antes del 31 de diciembre.
• Un bono duplicado por “Recomendar a un amigo”, que otorga un crédito de factura de $100 a cualquier suscriptor que consiga que un amigo se registre en el servicio NextLight antes del 31 de diciembre.

Las contribuciones de la red a Longmont también serán reconocidas durante el evento anual Estado de la Ciudad de la Cámara de Comercio del Área de Longmont, que se llevará a cabo este año a las 8:30 a.m. el 17 de octubre en el Museo de Longmont.  El 29 de octubre, la Ciudad también proclamará del 1 al 7 de noviembre como la “Semana del Cumpleaños de NextLight”, reconociendo los aniversarios de la aprobación de NextLight por parte de los votantes (1 de noviembre de 2011), la aprobación de su bono de construcción (5 de noviembre de 2013).) y sus primeros clientes (3 de noviembre de 2014).
