Police Explorers Place at LEEPAAC Conference Competitions
The Longmont Police Explorer Post 67 participated in the L.E.E.P.A.A.C conference in Gunnison Colorado the week of July 12-17. A total of 184 explorers from as far away as South Tucson, Arizona and Missoula, Montana took part in the conference.
The Explorers competed in individual competitions (traffic stops, inventory search, and obstacle course) and team competitions (high risk entry, crisis negotiations, cold case investigation, domestic violence investigation, report writing and high risk traffic stops).
Six Explorers from Longmont attended the conference. A. Sanger and P. Salazar served on the thirteen member leadership team made up of explorers from different post throughout the state.
Sanger served as the lead Explorer for the leadership team and gave the opening speech.
Four of the six Explorers from Longmont competed, bringing home nine awards in six of the events
Explorer J Pease took first place in domestic violence, fifth place in report writing, fifth place in high risk traffic stop and fifth place in traffic stops.
Explorer B Ballard took second place in traffic stops, third place in domestic violence, fourth place in crisis negotiations, and fifth place in high risk entry.
Explorer K Miller took fifth place for skills in working with domestic violence situations.
