Press Release – Rita Gutierrez-Garcia

The Longmont Police Department and Boulder County D.A. Michael Dougherty are holding a press conference today (May 7, 2018) at 10:00 am at the Longmont Police Department, 225 Kimbark St., Longmont, CO to discuss the attached press release.

PRESS RELEASE– The Longmont Police Department continues to investigate all leads involving the disappearance of Rita Gutierrez-Garcia and continues to take this investigation very seriously.

Unfortunately, while we hold out hope for the best, for all the reasons now known in this investigation, it is our belief that Rita is no longer alive, and her body has not been found. Anytime someone disappears, an investigation into how they conduct their everyday lives is done, and knowing how steady, reliable, and loved Rita was; we now expect the worst.

There is a person of interest in this investigation. At this point, we are still collecting evidence, and we are continuing to follow-up on all the information from people in the community. It is a very active investigation, and we are making significant progress. We will continue to follow-up on all leads, to include any possible suspects.

At this time we need additional information to help us investigate and prosecute this case. The Longmont Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to Rita’s discovery or for information which helps us in arresting the suspect.

A tip line and email address have been established for anyone with information. Please call (303) 774-3700, for the police tip line or e-mail your tips to policetipline@longmontcolorado.gov.

Anyone with urgent information requiring immediate police involvement and follow-up is asked to call the Longmont Emergency Communications Center at (303) 651-8501.

For additional information regarding this case.
