Price Park Tank replacement project hits the halfway mark with a solid foundation for a new 8 MG water tank
May 17, 2023 – The City of Longmont and contractor Garney Construction have made significant progress over the last nine months on the Price Park Tank Replacement Project. The former partially buried 7-million-gallon and 2-million-gallon water reservoirs were demolished and the concrete foundation was poured for a new above-ground 8-million-gallon water tank and pump station. The new water tank will provide critical water resources and improve water quality for City residents.
Construction on the waterlines was completed at Sunset Circle, Sunset Street and the Sunset Pool parking lot. New landscaping and irrigation are currently being completed for Price Park and Sunset Park. The existing water tower, currently used for communications equipment, will remain in place and not be impacted by the project.
The next major phase of construction to build the new tank structure is now underway as the City prepares to open Sunset Pool for the season. The pool parking lot is being resurfaced and new lines will be painted to accommodate additional parking spaces. The pool and parking lot will open to the public on May 22. The Sunset Golf Course and parking lot are currently open to visitors.
The City of Longmont appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we update the city’s key water infrastructure. We encourage visitors to use caution while entering the areas around the construction zone and yield to construction traffic. Current project information and traffic impacts can be found on the project website at bit.ly/price-park-tank-replacement.
