Public invited to create ‘Thing in a Jar’ for Library’s spooky showcase

The Longmont Library invites the patrons of all ages to delve into their spooky side to create a “preserved” specimen jar this fall! Your specimen can be any creepy creation, be it a critter from something you have read or are currently reading, or something straight out of your imagination.

Jars, along with completed entry forms, can be delivered to the Library from Oct. 17-23.

Participants can drop off their completed jars and entry form to the Reference Desk, located on the second floor of the Library.

The jars will be displayed in the Library lobby from Thursday, Oct. 24 through Thursday, Oct. 31, for members of the public to view all the creepy creations.

On Friday, Nov. 1, winners by drawing in four categories will be announced:

  • Best Adult Thing in a Jar (ages 14 and older)
  • Best Tween Thing in a Jar (ages 9-13)
  • Best Kid Thing in a Jar (age 8 and younger)
  • Best All Ages Thing in a Jar

Complete rules and entry forms can be found on the entry form. Contestants can work as individuals or teams. Join the fun at the Library this fall – make a Thing in a Jar or visit the Library to enjoy them!
