Re-Charging (More Power to You blog)
Longmont’s city-owned charging stations are about to shift gear. And no, that’s not a typo.
If you’re an electric vehicle driver in Longmont, you may be familiar with the five city-owned stations around town, all of which currently use ChargePoint equipment. We say “currently,” because all of those chargers are about to change – we’re switching from ChargePoint to ABB equipment for better reliability and easier maintenance. The last day for the old chargers will be Sept. 17, with the new ABB chargers expected to go live in October.
So what does that mean for you as a driver? Right now, a couple of things:
- Make sure to add the EVGateway app. That’s how you’ll access the new chargers once they’re installed.
- You’ll want to watch our EV charging page. We’ll add a notice there when the new chargers are in place and ready to go.
There are also some important things that won’t change when the new chargers come in. Charging will still be $1 per hour. And you’ll still be able to access the chargers 24 hours per day. Plug in when you need to, charge up and drive on as always.
We appreciate your patience while this switch is going on, so that we can continue to bring you a good experience. After all, for EV drivers, a reliable charging site matters.
You might even say it’s a driving interest.
