Recycle Your Holidays This Season!
With the holidays coming up, it’s easy to be more sustainable with your holiday waste! See below for details on how you can properly recycle and dispose of your trees, lights, cardboard boxes, Stryofoam, wrapping paper and more or visit bit.ly/recycle-the-holidays. Have questions? Tree Recycling
Holiday trees can be cut up and placed in your curbside compost bin, but remember to remove all the lights and decorations! You can also take your trees to four satellite locations where they will be recycled through Jan. 9, 2022:
- Roosevelt Park: In the parking lot south of 8th Avenue and Pratt Street, by Roosevelt Activity Pool.
- Garden Acres Park: In the parking lot at 18th Avenue and Tulip Street.
- Kanemoto Park: In the parking lot at South Pratt Parkway and South Coffman Street.
- Centennial Park: In the parking lot at Alpine Street and Verdant Circle.
Or you can drop off your tree at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin St., during open hours.
Wrapping Paper
With Christmas morning, you probably have a lot of wrapping paper to find out what to do with! Make sure the bows and ribbons are removed first and then place your paper wrapping paper in your curbside recycle bin. If you have too much, you can drop off the paper wrapping paper at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin St. in the single-stream recycling bins located up front.
No metallic wrapping paper, bows or ribbons please!
Styrofoam, Cardboard Boxes and Plastic Bags
After the holidays, you might have some cardboard boxes and Styrofoam cluttering up your house. Recycle your cardboard in your curbside recycling bin (make sure they are broken down) or bring them to the front bins at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin St.
To recycle your Styrofoam, you will need to stop by the Waste Diversion Center during open hours to place them in the bins inside the Main yard- drive up to the attendant’s window, and they will direct you to the styro bin. It’s a hard-to-recycle item that requires it to be separated from other materials. Foams, peanuts, wrap and food-grade foams are not recyclable and should be placed in your curbside trash container. This service is for Longmont residents only.
Plastic bags are also a hard-to-recycle item and should be taken to the Waste Diversion Center. Clean and dry bags, as well as bubble wrap, are available during open hours inside the main yard – drive up to the attendant’s window, and they will direct you to the Plastic bag and bubble wrap recycling bins. This service is for Longmont residents only.

Lights
If you have holiday lights you are looking to get rid of, make sure to recycle them at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin St., from now until Jan. 10, 2022. There will be a specially designated bin to recycle your light strands. Please wrap each string of lights into a ball and drop them in the appropriate container.
