Save on Utilities in 2017

As the cost of providing utility services rises, Longmont is increasing utility rates in 2017. For the typical customer, the total monthly bill increase averages $12.24 per month; however, many customers can make a single change that will reduce the increase to about $1.

Longmont is moving to more equitable “pay as you throw” trash rates beginning in April. By downsizing from a 96-gallon to a 48-gallon cart, customers can save just over $11 a month. A survey of trash containers in Longmont found that 80% of residents are oversubscribed, meaning they could go to a smaller container. The survey also discovered that 70% of trash containers in Longmont contained substantial amounts of recyclable materials. Visit ServiceWorks.LongmontColorado.gov to right-size your trash cart and maximize your savings. Customers will need their utility billing account number to make changes.

In addition, the City offers several efficiency and conservation programs to help customers reduce household electric usage and water consumption. We also constantly work to keep rates reasonable for our community; Longmont is proud to offer high quality utility services at rates that continue to be among the more economical in the region.
