SCAM ALERT – A person is calling local businesses from a 505 area code stating that all commercial businesses are subject to a new state requirement for an upgraded meter and that a temporary charge of $800 is being charged per a notification mailed out the previous week. They are stating that the amount will be credited to the business the next billing cycle once the business is under compliance. Those calling the number back are being greeted by, “Thank you for calling Longmont your power provider”. This is a scam. Do not provide the caller any payment information. If you do receive this call, please call (303)651-8501 and file a police report.
