Thanks a Million
Thanks a Million
There’s something about the word “million” that gets people’s attention.
After all, a one-in-a-million shot creates a sports legend. A million-man march signals a major protest. And of course, there’s Dr. Evil and his comic demands for a $1 million ransom in the Austin Powers movies.
So try this million on for size: if every business in Longmont did an energy efficiency project, they could collectively save about $8.5 million.
Done blinking yet?
As we’ve mentioned before, commercial energy efficiency adds up fast. This year is no different. Eleven of our biggest customers alone are saving nearly 2.2 million kilowatt hours per year – enough power to light up Lyons for nearly a month and a half. Bring in everyone else’s efficiency projects on top of that and the results … well, make you light up.
But what about all that money I mentioned? It’s a pretty quick estimate. In 2021, our business customer can expect an average annual savings of about $3,100 through energy efficiency projects – not bad, especially for a business trying to navigate challenging times. Ring up those savings for every business in Longmont, and boom. You have an $8.5 million windfall, just waiting to be claimed.
So how do you get your piece of it?
Start by contacting the Efficiency Works business program team. They can help you see your building’s potential with an energy assessment to find hidden savings and then provide rebates for a number of efficiency projects. (And if you already have something under way, there are a number of projects that will earn you a 50% bonus rebate if turned in by Nov. 15, 2021 – don’t wait!)
Want to keep saving when you get home? Check out the Efficiency Works residential offerings, along with the online Efficiency Works Store for simple energy-saving products like smart thermostats and LED bulbs. It just might leave you feeling like a million bucks.
