How Would You Allocate City Resources?
Imagine having $100 to invest in achieving the City’s Envision Longmont goals. Where would you spend that money? What services and programs are most important to you? The city council faces the challenge of providing high quality municipal services at reasonable costs. It is important to know how our residents and business owners prioritize City services as laid out in Envision Longmont, the City’s comprehensive plan. Would You Like to Serve Your Community?
Residents are invited to serve as official advisors to Longmont City Council on several boards and commissions. These advisory groups help the council make decisions on a wide variety of issues that affect the safety, economy and quality of life in Longmont. Members generally spend a few hours a month preparing for and attending meetings. Applicants must be registered voters of Longmont for at least one year prior to being appointed and must reside inside Longmont city limits. Longmont Restaurant Week
The inaugural Longmont Restaurant Week will take place April 20-29. During this 10-day event participating restaurants, breweries, and distilleries offer special prix fixe menus for $18.71. Healthy Soil and Carbon Sequestration
From 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Monday, April 23, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue, the Longmont Board of Environmental Affairs and the Longmont Public Forum will present Elizabeth Black to discuss the importance of healthy soil to our health and well being and how we can influence this global issue. Review Left Hand Floodplain at Open House
Residents and property owners along Left Hand Creek within Longmont are invited to an open house from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, April 23, at the Development Services Center, 385 Kimbark Street. You can offer input on newly issued draft floodplain maps, and an update on the floodplain mapping process, including next steps and an anticipated adoption timeline, will be provided at 5:30 pm. Drop Off Old and Unused Medicines for Free
Drugs discarded down the drain can pass through the wastewater plant and into St. Vrain Creek without treatment. Bring them instead to a free drop-off event from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, April 28, in the main lobby of Longmont United Hospital, 1950 Mountain View Avenue. Pills, capsules, liquids, inhalers, patches, etc. are welcomed. No needles, thermometers, controlled substances, medical equipment, personal care products, household hazardous wastes, or business wastes accepted. Register for Day Camp and Summer Fun for All
The City of Longmont’s summer Recreation & Golf Services’ activities brochure has been mailed to residents and can be seen online at LongmontColorado.gov/rec. Accessibility and Adaptable Technology Fair 
Seniors, family members, and caregivers are invited to the Longmont Senior Center at 910 Longs Peak Avenue from 4:30 to 6 pm on Thursday, April 26, to learn about adaptive services and technologies that can help you and your loved ones age in place. This free event goes beyond grab bars and personal alert devices to address a variety of issues including hearing loss, vision changes, dementia, low mobility, and social isolation. The Spanish-language “Feria de Technología Adaptable y Accessibilidad” will be held from 4:30 to 6 pm on Tuesday, April 17. For more information, call 303-651-8414.
