Help Provide Masks and Gloves
Because of the success of the first protective equipment collection event, Longmont Recreation and Senior Services staff and CERT volunteers will host four additional mask-and-glove drives to benefit Longmont’s senior citizens and vulnerable adults, Meals on Wheels volunteers, and first responders, among others. These events will be held in the parking lot of the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, from 10 am to 2 pm on the next two Wednesdays – April 22 and 29, and the next two Saturdays – April 25 and May 2. The drive-up event accepts donations of homemade fabric masks, masks intended for commercial use (N95, KN95, FFP2, surgical masks), goggles that seal to the face, face shields, non-latex, and nitrile gloves. All items should be in new condition, and all except homemade masks should be in original packaging. Register for Summer Rec Programs

New Waste Diversion Center Hours
The Waste Diversion Center (WDC) at 140 Martin Street has changed its hours of operation to 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday. This gives staff time each day to disinfect their area when they arrive at and leave work. The WDC currently is open only to Longmont residents. For information, visit bit.ly/waste-diversion-center.

Citywide Spring Street Sweeping Deferred
The City of Longmont has deferred the annual citywide street sweeping operation to remove dirt, debris and pollutants that build up during the winter months. It will be rescheduled at a later time. Each spring, the City of Longmont conducts a citywide street sweeping operation to remove dirt, debris and pollutants that build up during the winter months. The City sweeps over 350 centerline miles of streets and removes tons of debris and contaminants annually from the streets that would otherwise, pollute our air and rivers. Library Leads City Project to Document Local COVID-19 Experiences
Our community is currently living through one of those rare times in which we know — even as time is passing — that this is an historical moment. What will happen and who we will be on the other side of this crisis remains to be seen, but what we are experiencing right now will be remembered and retold and referred to for the rest of our lives.
Because we tend to remember what we record, the Longmont Public Library has launched a local StoryCorps project, “#StrongmontStories, Sharing in Place,” to assist the Longmont community in creating an oral history of the COVID-19 experience.

Transfort FLEX Bus Service Between Fort Collins and Longmont Suspended Due to a Decrease in Ridership
Effective Saturday, April 18, Transfort is temporarily reducing service levels, including the FLEX regional connector which connects Fort Collins, Loveland, Berthoud, Longmont and Boulder, with direct connections to RTD and the Denver Metro Area. This suspension is a result of an 83% decrease in ridership throughout the system and follows the CDC’s guidelines to discourage travel between communities. RTD will also be implementing a decrease in service through the COVID-19 Service Plan effective April 19, 2020.
