Coffee with Council This Saturday
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, April 28, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. You can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council members Finley and Rodriguez are scheduled to attend. Drop Off Old and Unused Medicines for Free
Drugs discarded down the drain can pass through the wastewater plant and into St. Vrain Creek without treatment. Bring them instead to a free drop-off event from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, April 28, in the main lobby of Longmont United Hospital, 1950 Mountain View Avenue. Pills, capsules, liquids, inhalers, patches, etc. are welcomed. No needles, thermometers, controlled substances, medical equipment, personal care products, household hazardous wastes, or business wastes accepted. Tell the City What’s Most Important to You
Imagine having $100 to invest in achieving the City’s Envision Longmont goals. Where would you invest that money? It’s important for the city council to know how residents and business owners prioritize City services. Over the next few weeks City staff will be visiting grocery stores and City facilities to find out what’s most important to you. Fire Station Open House for Seniors
Longmont Fire Station 4 at 501 23rd Avenue will hold an open house for seniors from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, April 28. It will focus on senior safety including smoke alarms, kitchen and cooking hazards, and trip and fall precautions. Staff also will check blood pressure and heart rates for senior attendees.
Bees, Hornets and Wasps Workshop
Learn the difference between bees, hornets and wasps from 10:30 am to noon on Saturday, April 28, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Día With Dorje Dolma
In honor of the annual “Día – Diversity in Action” holiday, from 2:30 to 4 pm on Sunday, April 29, up-and-coming author Dorje Dolma will lead the festivities celebrating children, books and diversity at the Longmont Library, 409 4th Avenue. She will share stories of her journey from Nepal to growing up in Boulder followed by crafts and treats. No registration required for this family-friendly event.
Nick Forster: My Grandfather’s WWI Memoirs
At 6:30 pm on Monday, April 30, in conjunction with the Longmont Museum’s current exhibit WWI: Longmont & the Great War, Nick Forster, host and cofounder of Boulder’s eTown, will share the WWI memoirs of his grandfather. Henry Forster was born in 1889 and died in 1989, living through an amazing century of American history, including service in the Lafayette Flying Corps and U.S. Naval Air Service during the War. Through Henry’s journals, letters from the warfront, and videotaped interviews, Nick will bring the amazing stories of WWI aviators to life. Admission is $5.
Last Day for Early Bird Triathlon Registration
Swim, bike and run! Longmont Recreation Services, along with Altitude Physical Therapy, presents the annual Longmont Triathlon Weekend for children and adults June 2-3 at Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine Street. Sales and Use Tax Seminar
