Serve on a City Advisory Board, Committee or Commission

Residents are invited to serve as official advisors to the Longmont City Council on any of the City’s several boards or commissions. The committees serve as advisory groups helping City Council learn about and make decisions on a wide variety of issues that affect the safety, economy and quality of life of Longmont’s residents and businesses.

It’s easy to apply:

  1. Visit the City’s website: LongmontColorado.gov/board-application
  2. Click on the board name (located at the bottom of the webpage) to fill out your application online
  3. Fill out the application and submit by 5 pm on Friday, May 28

Special Committees:

Equitable Climate Action Committee: Are you passionate about working on climate action while creating an inclusive community for all? Apply to join the Equitable Climate Action team! The team meets once to twice a month to provide feedback on City programs and develop outreach and engagement for the community. Learn more and apply online by 5 pm on Monday, May 10. You can also learn more about the group by watching “We’re in This Together: Equitable Climate Action in Longmont” virtual event on Facebook.

Building Electrification Committee: There’s a new way to help build a more sustainable Longmont, and you can be part of it. Longmont is seeking two at-large community members for a new building electrification committee. Beginning in June, this committee will meet every 6-8 weeks over the next two years, guiding Longmont’s strategy toward reducing fossil fuel use in homes and businesses, while also keeping energy use and costs low. Sandstone Visitors Center Opens for Season

Starting May 3, drop in on Mondays to the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, from 9 am-noon to explore the self-guided theme tables relating to Sandstone and the surrounding area. The Visitors Center is also open seasonally from 10 am-2 pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays beginning May 8. Admission is free; donations welcome. Free Landfill Drop Day

The City of Longmont is offering residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 7 am-2 pm on Saturday, May 8. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversize loads and second loads will be billed accordingly. Webinar: ‘Attracting Wildlife You Want’

Explore Ancient Philosophies in Modern Day

The Library’s Deep Thoughts Philosophy Reading Group meets online on the 4th Monday each month from 7-8:30 pm to discuss a classic short work of philosophy or an excerpt from a longer work and explore the value it offers in modern life. The group is a partnership with CU-Boulder’s Philosophy Outreach Program and is run by the graduate coordinator of the program. Registration for the May 24 meet-up is required at bit.ly/BookGrps.
