Community Conversation on Homelessness
The City of Longmont and the Longmont Housing Opportunity Team (LHOT) invite the public to attend a community conversation on ending homelessness in Longmont from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, August 29, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. We’ll learn about who is experiencing homelessness in Longmont and resources available to help; discuss ongoing impacts and challenges; and explore how, with commitment and accountability, we all can contribute our expertise and resources to help address homelessness locally. August Coffee with Council Cancelled 
Longmont City Council’s monthly Coffee with Council scheduled for Saturday, August 25, has been cancelled. Join council members Christensen and Finley for Coffee with Council at Ute Creek Golf Course on Saturday, September 29.  

HawkQuest at Sandstone Ranch
Enjoy an outdoor program for all ages with HawkQuest on Tuesday, August 21, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. HawkQuest teaches the importance of raptors, their specially adapted tools, and their role in our ecosystems. Arrive at 5:30 pm, bring a picnic, and enjoy the scenery and lawn games before the featured event at 6:30 pm. The program will include a live Bald or a Golden eagle, an owl, a falcon, and a hawk. Please carpool, leave your pets at home, dress for the weather, and plan extra time to park in the upper parking lot and take the walking trail to the Visitors Center. No registration necessary. Farmstand Storytime at Ollin Farms
From noon to 2 pm on Sunday, August 26, the Longmont Library’s BookCycle will be at the Farmstand at Ollin Farms, 8627 N. 95th Street, where Miss Amy will read books and lead songs, and everyone will have all kinds of fun! This bilingual storytime is perfect for the whole family. Registration is not required. 

The Denver Broncos are Coming to Longmont
The Denver Broncos are coming to Downtown Longmont from noon to 2 pm on Sunday, August 26. During the two-hour Carne Asada event, fans can enjoy music and meet Broncos cheerleaders and alumni. The first 500 fans at the event get free food and drinks. Attendees can win prizes, including game tickets, autographed items, and Broncos merchandise. Join the fun at 5th Avenue and Main Street.

Register Now to Hear Author Helen Thorpe
Join author, journalist, and former First Lady of Colorado Helen Thorpe at 7 pm on Monday, September 17, for a fascinating and timely discussion of her latest book “The Newcomers: Finding Refuge, Friendship, and Hope in an American Classroom,” an in-depth look at how immigrant children are finding new homes in American classrooms. The program will be hosted by the Longmont Public Library and held at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Advance registration is required at bit.ly/AuthorsWeLove or in person at the Library, 409 4th Avenue, beginning at 9 am on Friday, August 24. Tickets are limited to two per party. There is no telephone registration.

Inclusive Communities Celebration
The City of Longmont and the Longmont Multicultural Action Committee (LMAC) invite you to participate in our Inclusive Communities Celebration on Friday, September 21, 6 to 9 pm at the 
Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. The purpose of the Inclusive Communities event is to celebrate the City of Longmont’s diversity as an asset within the community, and to showcase community programs that promote understanding of the many different cultures that are a part of our community. This annual celebration is a great opportunity to connect with others from different cultures.
