Coffee with Council 
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, August 24, at Sunset Golf Course, 1900 Longs Peak Avenue. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! For more information call 303-651-8649.

Stay on the Mark: Keep Your Meters Accessible
It’s meter-marking time again! Starting Wednesday, August 28, meter readers will put black marks on the sidewalks to show where the meter pits are. This helps them find your meter in the colder months when autumn leaves or winter snow may have covered it. Help them out by clearing off your meter when needed – with about 73,000 electric and water meters to read every month, every second counts! 

Recreation Facility Closures
Every year the City’s recreation facilities close for maintenance on systems and equipment. The Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, will be closed August 25 – September 1 and reopen with special holiday hours from 10 am to 4 pm on Monday, September 2.  Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine Street, will be closed August 31 through September 2. Free Legal Clinic
A free walk-in Legal Clinic will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, August 27, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. You can speak to attorneys at no charge about immigration law, criminal law, family law, collections, bankruptcy, employment law, fair housing, landlord/tenant law, consumer issues, personal injury, probate, and Social Security. Turn Bargains Into Treasures at ThriftU
Master the art of thrift store upcycling with your ThriftU degree from the Longmont Public Library. In the first class of the fall semester from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, September 4, crafters will create creepy Halloween decorations from thrift store dishes and figurines. The class will be held at the Library, 409 4th Avenue, and is limited to 25 people. Supplies will be provided, and anyone age 16 or older of any skill level is invited to participate. Supporting Action for Mental Health
September is International Suicide Prevention Month. To support our community, Supporting Action for Mental Health has organized a month-long series of events and discussions about creating mental wellness. Each week in September will focus on different scientifically researched strategies in music, art, physical activity, and nutrition to create or maintain mental wellness. Learn About Xeriscaping and Native Plants
Xeriscaping and using native plants in our landscapes doesn’t mean gravel and ugly plants. Join Boulder County Extension Agent Sharon Bokan from 8:30 to 9:30 am on Saturday, September 14, as she shows that native plants can provide a beautiful, easy care, low water use landscape. This will be a classroom talk followed by a tour of native and xeriscaped plants. This program is at the Natural Resources Building at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road. Volunteer at Sandstone Ranch
The Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, is seeking volunteers to assist with second grade educational field trips. We’re looking for people who like to be around kids in an outdoor setting, who are able to do some walking, and who have a willingness to learn.
