Free Landfill Drop Day
The City of Longmont is offering residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday, August 8. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversize loads and second loads will be billed. Please take a photo ID and a copy of your current utility bill to show that you are a City of Longmont customer. Sales and Use Tax Seminar
Do you have questions about the business sales and use tax in Longmont? A free seminar that will answer all your questions will be held from noon to 2 pm on Wednesday, August 12, in the Finance Conference Room at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. Registration for Fall Activities Opens Tuesday
Registration for City of Longmont fall 2015 Recreation & Golf activities begins Tuesday, August 11. The fall Recreation & Golf Services brochure was mailed to Longmont households last week. You also can pick up a brochure at all City of Longmont Recreation facilities beginning today, Monday, August 10, or check it out online at LongmontColorado.gov/rec. Longmont Now a Next Century City
The City of Longmont has joined Next Century Cities, a nationwide city-to-city initiative dedicated to ensuring that next-generation broadband – such as Longmont’s high-speed NextLight™ network – is available to all communities. To date, more than 100 cities and their elected leaders have joined Next Century Cities in recognition of the importance of leveraging gigabit-level Internet to attract new businesses, create jobs, improve health care and education, and connect residents to new opportunities.
Free Catfishing Night
On Friday, August 14, enjoy a free night out fishing for catfish at Roger’s Grove pond located north of the Boulder County Fairgrounds at 220 Hover Road. Check-in begins at 7 pm, and fishing continues until 11 pm. Participants age 16 and older must have a valid fishing license. For more information, call 303-774-4800.
Time for a Last Summer Swim
The last day Roosevelt Activity Pool will be open for the season is Sunday, August 16, and the last day Sunset Pool will be open is Monday, September 7, with special holiday hours of 10 am to 5 pm. For hours and admission fees visit LongmontColorado/rec or call 303-651-8404.
Recreation Facility Maintenance Closures
Every year, the City’s recreation facilities close for maintenance on systems and equipment. The St. Vrain Memorial Building will close on Monday, August 10, and reopen on Monday, August 17.
