Celebrate the Holidays at Longmont Lights
Enjoy Longmont Lights!, the City’s annual free holiday celebration, on December 11 and 12 in Roosevelt Park at 700 Longs Peak Avenue. Friday’s activities from 5 to 8 pm include Santa’s Workshop for kids, a holiday ice skating show, musical entertainment, a laser light show and a pyrotechnics jump. Local vendors will have food for purchase. The holiday parade begins at 5 pm Saturday on Main Street followed by a fireworks display in the park. Visit http://ow.l/RLMeu for a complete schedule.
Free Shredding Event on Saturday
Recycle personal documents safely and securely at this free event. Bring boxed or bagged papers to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, December 12. Also bring ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. This event is for residential documents only; business materials will not be accepted. Santa will be the very special guest at the library’s story times at 10:15 am and 11 am on Wednesday, December 16. Stop in to meet Santa, hear stories, and have fun with a make-and-take craft. Best for ages 6 and younger. These story times are free and do not require registration. The library is located at 409 4th Avenue.

Finley Appointed to National Committee
Longmont City Council member Bonnie Finley has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2016 Community and Economic Development committee. This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans by helping city leaders build better communities.
