This Week in Longmont – December 15, 2017
Project ALERT Community Meeting
Project ALERT is a new effort by residents for residents to give residents the knowledge and tools they need to strengthen their neighborhoods. The next class will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 am on Thursday, December 21, at the OUR Center, 220 Collyer Street. You’ll learn what to do about common code violations, about new services for our local homeless population, and how to prepare for winter storms. Call or text Richard at 303-845-2785 to reserve your place. If you use Facebook, check out their group page called Empowered Neighbors Longmont.
Longmont Gets Day in the Sun With SolSmart Bronze Award
Longmont will be presented with a federal SolSmart Bronze designation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting, recognizing the city’s efforts to make it faster and easier to “go solar.” SolSmart designations go to communities that have worked to reduce the “soft costs” of installing a solar energy system, such as permitting, financing, and other non-hardware expenses.

Share Your Holiday Lights with LPC
There’s nothing like a bright string of lights to welcome the holidays, and Longmont Power & Communications would like to see and share some of your favorite Longmont displays. Take a photo of a display that you love – whether it’s a gentle and sweet indoor glow or an outside array that’s more brilliant than Las Vegas – and email it to LPC_Marketing@LongmontColorado.gov or send it by private message to the Longmont Power & Communications Facebook page. We’ll put some of our favorites in a Facebook photo album, with the photographer’s name, for everyone to see. And remember to check out safety tips for your own decorations in the November City Line at bit.ly/NovCityLine.
Longmont city government observes the Christmas holiday on Monday, December 25. All City facilities will be closed. Trash, recycling and composting collection will be one day later than usual throughout the week.
