Celebrate the Holidays at Longmont Lights!
Enjoy the City’s annual free holiday celebration in Downtown Longmont. From 5 to 9 pm on Friday, December 9, in Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Avenue, you’ll delight in the festive activities, including Santa’s Workshop for kids, ice skating show, musical entertainment, and the fireworks finale at 8:45 pm sponsored by WK Real Estate. Local vendors will have food for purchase. The event concludes at 5 pm on Saturday, December 10, with the annual holiday parade on Main Street. Discovery Days Goes to the Library
Miss Elaine from the Longmont Museum’s Discovery Days will bring fun crafts to the Library at 409 4th Avenue from 10 am to noon on Tuesday, December 6. Craft, color, cut, and create before or after storytime. Children ages 2 to 6 are welcome with an accompanying parent. This month’s theme is “Pirates & Princesses.” No registration required.
Register for Snowflake Stories and Dance
Embrace the winter chill with a special program featuring winter-themed stories and dancing from Airborne Gymnastics and Dance from 1 to 1:45 pm on Saturday, December 3, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. Landlord Alliance: Public Health Issues
From 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, December 14, the Longmont Landlord Alliance will present “Mold, Cigarette Smoke, Cockroaches, Oh My!,” a panel discussion by representatives from Boulder County Public Health on how a reasonable landlord should respond when tenants report mold, vermin, cigarette or marijuana smoke, and other health issues. Create a Holiday Gingerbread House
Get in the holiday spirit by creating your very own decorative gingerbread house. Graham cracker “gingerbread” and all the frosting and trimmings needed to make a fantastical gingerbread house will be supplied. Don’t miss this perennial holiday favorite at either 6 to 6:45 pm or 7 to 7:45 pm on Monday, December 5, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. YAB Grade 3 – 8 Junior Nuggets Basketball
Young American Basketball is an organized team participation program that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, skill development and fun. From January through early March, games are played on Saturdays in Longmont and nearby towns. Each participant receives a Junior Nuggets reversible branded jersey and two tickets to a Denver Nuggets game. Register by Sunday, December 18, at LongmontColorado.gov/rec – search for YAB. This program depends on volunteer coaches; if you would like to volunteer, call 303-774-4800.
Enjoy Victorian Holiday Carols at the Library
Enjoy lively holiday carols with the Heartland Quartet of the Longmont Chorale from 2 to 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 11, at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. The quartet will sing Dickensian carols in full costume. No registration is necessary – just stop by and get a dose of holiday cheer!
