Celebrate the Holidays at Longmont Lights!
Enjoy the Longmont Lights fireworks display at 8:45 pm at Roosevelt Park on Friday, December 9. Special Event Update: Due to a significantly damaged sewer line that requires immediate attention at the Longmont Senior Center, the Longmont Lights concerts scheduled for Friday, December 9, have been cancelled. Also affected by the same sewer line, the Cocoa Kitchen has been closed and NO FREE HOT COCOA will be available at the fire pits. Please bring your own thermoses of hot cocoa or visit the Food Trucks on site to purchase cocoa. The event concludes at 5 pm on Saturday, December 10, with the annual holiday parade on Main Street. Free Shredding Event 
Recycle personal documents safely and securely at this free shredding event. Bring boxed or bagged papers to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, December 10. Also bring ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. This event is for residential documents only; business materials will not be accepted. For information call 303-651-8416.

Enjoy Victorian Holiday Carols at the Library
Enjoy lively holiday carols with the Heartland Quartet of the Longmont Chorale from 2 to 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 11, at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. The quartet will sing Dickensian carols in full costume. No registration is necessary – just stop by and get a dose of holiday cheer!  

Landlord Alliance: Public Health Issues
From 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, December 14, the Longmont Landlord Alliance will present “Mold, Cigarette Smoke, Cockroaches, Oh My!,” a panel discussion by representatives from Boulder County Public Health on how a reasonable landlord should respond when tenants report mold, vermin, cigarette or marijuana smoke, and other health issues. Holiday Story Times at the Library
The Library at 409 4th Avenue is hosting two holiday-themed story times this week. On Tuesday, December 13, children of all age ages can enjoy holiday stories and a special puppet show at one of two 30-minute sessions at 10:15 am and again at 11 am. On Wednesday, December 14, Santa arrives at the Library at 10:30 am for more holiday stories, plus a make-and-take craft in an hour-long program. Registration is not required for these programs, so stop by and join in the fun!

Parents’ Day Out
Need some time to finish your holiday shopping – or get started? Take your children ages 5-10 to Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine Street, from 12:30 to 4:30 pm on Saturday, December 17, for an afternoon of supervised swimming and a movie while you enjoy a Parents’ Day Out! A light lunch and snacks are included. The cost is $20 for residents and $25 for nonresidents; a multichild discount is available. No day-of registration. Longmont Museum Holiday Festival
This light and lively holiday celebration is filled with classic music of the season and festive decorations in the Stewart Auditorium. Some of the best ensembles and soloists from the area will perform, including a special performance of Jewish klezmer musical traditions. Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies and a cash bar, visit with Santa, and view an exhibition of historic winter photos from the Museum’s collection. Shows begin at 3 pm and at 6:30 pm on Saturday, December 17, at the Museum, 400 Quail Road. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. “Give a Hoot About Owls”  
Join storyteller Margaret Furumo at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue, on Thursday, December 15, for a special hands-on story time all about owls and a make-and-take-craft project. There will be two sessions, one at 10:15 am and one at 11 am. To register, call 303-651-8477 and note which session you’d like to attend.  

Santa Story Time and Pancake Breakfast
Celebrate the holidays at a Pancake Breakfast with Santa at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, from 9 to 11 am on Thursday, December 22. Enjoy pancakes, coffee, tea and juice while Santa entertains your whole family with holiday stories, followed by photos with children. Recreation & Golf Gift Certificates
Recreation gift certificates can be purchased in any amount and can be redeemed in person, over the phone, and online for drop-in classes, activity registration, and passes. Golf certificates can be purchased for either play or pro shop use. To purchase a recreation certificate, visit the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, or the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue.
