Celebrate Chinese New Year
Join several community groups to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Rooster from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, February 11, at Silver Creek High School, 4901 Nelson Road. Enjoy food tastings, a lion dance, kung fu demonstrations, Taiko drumming, music, arts and crafts, and more. This event is free and open to the public. For more information visit cny.svvsd.org.

Flood Risk Management Study Open House
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting a flood risk management study to evaluate potential improvements along St. Vrain Creek between Lykins Gulch and the BNSF railroad bridge near Price Road. A public open house to share details of the study, which builds on Longmont’s Resilient St. Vrain project, will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, February 16, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Sales and Use Tax Seminar 
Do you have questions about the business sales and use tax in Longmont? A free seminar that will answer all your questions will be held from 10 am to noon on Wednesday, February 15, in the City Council chambers at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. Winter Sprinter Swim Meet for Adults
Join Recreation & Golf Services at Centennial Pool at 8:30 am on Sunday, February 12, for competition and camaraderie at the annual Winter Sprinter swim meet for adults. Distances range from 50-500 yards in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley. Fees are $20 preregistered or $25 the day of event. Parents’ Night Out
Take your children ages 5 to 10 to Centennial Pool at 1201 Alpine Street from 5 to 9 pm on Saturday, February 11, for a fun, supervised evening of swimming and a movie while you enjoy an evening out with your friends or Valentine. A light dinner and snacks are included. Fees are $20 resident/ $25 nonresident, and preregistration is required. Call 303-651-8406 or visit LongmontColorado.gov/rec to register. Storytime with the Tooth Fairy
Learn to love your teeth! To celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month, DentaQuest has booked a date with the Tooth Fairy at 10:15 am and 11 am on Tuesday, February 14, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. Hear stories and learn about taking care of our pearly whites. This program is best for ages 2 and older. No registration is required.  

New! Conversational Spanish for Children
Your little ones will have fun learning basic conversational Spanish in the new informal, interactive group for kids and their parents at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. No Spanish experience is necessary, and the group is ideal for ages 4 to about 8. “Cuentos y Conversaciones” meets from 4 to 4:45 pm on the third Thursday of every month during the school year. It’s time to enroll for the 2017-18 school year at Small Wonders Preschool, located at the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue. Small Wonders offers an affordable, licensed two-day morning program for 3-year-olds and four-day afternoon program for 4- and 5-year-olds. The afternoon class also is a great choice for children who would benefit from another year of preschool before starting kindergarten.
