Library’s East Entrance to Remain Closed for Additional Week
Crews working on sidewalk repairs on the east side of the Longmont Public Library have uncovered issues that require that area to remain through February 28. During this time, the Library’s parking lot, exterior book drops, and outside elevator serving the underground parking garage also will be closed. The Library will waive overdue fines on materials due during this period but returned late.  

Learn “All About Owls” at Sandstone Ranch
Join Recreation Services from 10:30 am to noon or from 12:30 to 2 pm on Saturday, February 22, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, to learn what makes owls different from other birds and raptors. Free Legal Clinic
A free walk-in Legal Clinic will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 25, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. You can speak to attorneys at no charge about immigration law, criminal law, family law, collections, bankruptcy, employment law, fair housing, landlord/tenant law, consumer issues, personal injury, probate, and Social Security. Coffee with Council
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, February 29, at the Lashley Street Station, 1200 Lashley Street. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Rodriguez and Waters are scheduled to attend. EforAll Pitch Contest 
You’ve seen “Shark Tank” on TV; now come see what it’s like in real life. The Library will host EforAll Longmont’s February Pitch Contest, a fast-paced event that lets early-stage entrepreneurs gain free valuable exposure and feedback on a business idea, as well as compete for prize money to put toward their new business. Adults and older teens are invited to see the presentations at the Library, 409 4th Avenue, from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, February 27. No registration required.

Linking Longmont for Better Transportation
The public is invited to Linking Longmont from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 4, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Industry experts will speak about innovative mobility, sustainable transportation, and the future of capital improvements in Longmont. Attendees can speak with City staff  about street and trail projects and with community partners focused on commuting, cycling, safety, sustainability and more. Cheer for Longmont at the Winter Classic
Longmont Public Safety – Police and Fire – will take on the Fort Collins Police Blue Warriors at 11 am on Sunday, February 23, in a charity hockey game to benefit Cultivate, a nonprofit organization serving seniors. The event will be held at the Longmont Ice Pavilion, 725 8th Avenue, and there is a $10 suggested donation; children enter for free. Food will be available for purchase from Nacho Mama’s Tacos food truck.

Apply Now for DRCOG Citizens’ Academy
The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) is accepting applications for its seven-week Citizens’ Academy, which begins April 2. You’ll learn about regional issues such as transportation, economic vitality, housing, civic engagement, and more. Explore the Youth Center at Parent Night
The Youth Center has added some great new programs! Stop by the Longmont Youth Center, 1050 Lashley Street, for Parent Night from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, March 4. Learn about programs such as homework help and tutoring, team-building and social support groups, health and fitness classes, service opportunities, and more. Community Emergency Response Training
Disasters can severely restrict and overwhelm emergency responders, and some areas can be cut off from outside emergency support. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training teaches community members how to prepare for emergencies. You’ll learn how to take care of yourself and how to help others until first responders arrive. The next free CERT class will be held March 13-16.
