Longmont Awarded $4 Million Grant to Create Quiet Zones
The City of Longmont has been awarded a $4 million grant to create quiet zones and improve safety. The Department of Transportation (DOT) grant awarded, in conjunction with Longmont’s local match funding, will go toward the $8 million Railroad Crossing Safety Project to address safety and noise improvements in the city.

Freeze-thaw Cycle Yields Increased Potholes
Each year, it’s inevitable that potholes form on our roadways. In addition to giving the pothole filler trucks plenty of space to work, there is another way you can help in the fight against potholes.  You can be our extra eyes on the road and let us know about potholes along your travel routes. If you notice a pothole forming along a street or on-street bike lane in Longmont, you can report it in one of two ways: Submit a Streets and Traffic Repair Request 24/7 online at ServiceWorks.LongmontColorado.gov or call 303-651-8416 between 8 am and 5 pm Monday-Friday.

Time to Order Your Garden In A Box
Tackle that problem area in your yard once and for all by planting a beautiful, water-wise Garden In A Box this spring. These kits are professionally designed for Colorado yards, are super easy to use, and can help you save around 7,300 gallons of water over the garden’s lifetime compared to a traditional grass lawn, not to mention helping you save on your water bill. Starting at just $110, the garden kits are beautiful and affordable. Visit ResourceCentral.org/Gardens to order your Garden In A Box and to see if you qualify for a $25 discount for City of Longmont customers.

Learn About Waterwise Gardening
Every spring, Resource Central hosts a Waterwise Landscape Seminar Series focused on low-water landscaping and other sustainable gardening practices. Seminars connect residents with industry professionals who share their tricks of the trade so that attendees can embark on their own do-it-yourself landscaping projects. This year there will be 18 seminars throughout the Front Range, and they’re free and open to everyone. Visit ResourceCentral.org/Seminars or call 303-999-3820, ext. 222, to see the complete schedule.
