What Do You Want From Your Library?
The City of Longmont is conducting a study to determine the future of the Longmont Public Library and is seeking input from the community. Five community meetings will be held this week at various locations, and a 10-minute online survey is also available. Visit bit.ly/LibraryFuture for details. Everyone’s opinion is helpful, and the City would like to hear from as many Longmont residents as possible.
Library East Entrance Closed Temporarily
From Monday, February 10, through Friday, February 21, the Library’s east entrance will be closed while the concrete walkway is repaired. The Library’s parking lot, exterior book drops, and outside elevator serving the underground parking garage also will be closed during this time. Because some patrons exclusively use the book drops to return books, the Library will waive overdue fines on materials due during this period but returned late. Those planning to attend the Library Feasibility Study Community Meeting at 6:30 pm on Monday, February 10, should use the Library’s west entrance.
Spend No-school Days at the Rec Center
On days that St. Vrain Valley schools are closed children ages 7-12 can enjoy swimming, gym time, climbing wall, and crafts from 9 am to 4 pm at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. Take snacks, a lunch, swimsuit, towel and gym shoes. Dates are Friday, February 14, and Monday, February 17, and the cost is $40 per resident, per day. Childcare is available before the program begins for an additional fee. Register at LongmontColorado.gov/rec (keyword “noschool”) or call 303-774-4800.
Enjoy Valentine’s Day at the Ice Pavilion
Join Recreation Services for a fun-filled no-school Valentine’s Day open skate from 12:30 to 6:15 pm on Friday, February 14, at the Longmont Ice Pavilion, 725 8th Avenue. All couples receive one free skate rental with regular admission. Whether you’re a Rosy Couple or a Single Pringle, the first 50 customers receive their choice of a free rose or a snack-size can of Pringles! Call 303-774-4777 with questions.

The Library is honoring Black History Month with a special Diversity Storytime devoted to African-American authors and illustrators. Visit the Library at 409 4th Avenue from 1 to 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 15, to hear traditional favorites and new classics, too. This program is for families with children of all ages and does not require registration.
