Discovery Days at the Longmont Museum

The Longmont Museum’s drop-in arts, crafts, music and movement program for children ages 2-6 (with a caregiver) resumes this week. Classes are held Tuesday-Saturday with three sessions per day. Teen Craft & Create Club

The Longmont Museum’s free weekly club for teenagers age 13-18 is back for the winter. Drop in each Wednesday from 3-5 pm to explore activities like collage, painting, fiber art and free-choice art making. You can learn more at Longmont Museum online or by calling 303-651-8374.

 

Wildlife Detectives at Sandstone Ranch

Learn how to track and uncover evidence of local animals that brave the cold winter season from 9:30-11:30 am Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center (3001 Sandstone Drive). This free outdoor program is hosted by the Longmont Ranger team. The material is most appropriate for ages 8+ but families are welcome. New Season of Free Library Events

A new Longmont Library brochure is on the shelves. Get details about this spring’s Gardening Fair, a Shakespeare presentation, a free film screening, newly added Discovery Passes, pop-up book sales and so much more. Free Radon Testing

January is Radon Action Month. Radon is an invisible, odorless radioactive gas that can build up indoors and lead to cancer. The only way to know your home’s radon level is to test. There are several easy ways to get a free radon test: check out a radon detector from the Library, order a free mail-in test kit or request a free Longmont Sustainable Home appointment, which includes a free mail-in radon test kit. City Facilities Impacted by the Holiday

In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, City services and facilities may be impacted; most City facilities will be closed on Monday, January 19. Waste collection will be picked up one day later than normal during the week. Recreational facilities will remain open during normal hours. To find a full list of holiday closures, visit online.
