Free Bus Service in Longmont through 2015
The City of Longmont and Boulder County have partnered to continue the Ride Free Longmont fare-free bus service through 2015. Anyone can ride the local Longmont buses (323, 324, 326 and 327) as much as they want for free! No passes, fares or ID required; jump on and off as much as you’d like. If you use a local bus to access the regional buses (BOLT, L and J) ask the driver for a transfer, which is good for $2.25 off the regional bus fare. Snow Cams Show Longmont Road Conditions
When winter storms strike, you can see what road conditions are like in town before you head out. The same snow cameras that the City’s Snow & Ice Control Team uses are now live online at http://WebCam.LongmontColorado.gov/streetcams. Itty Bitty City Returns
Itty Bitty City, an indoor play environment with plenty of toys and room to move, returns on Fridays through May 8. Children ages 6 months through 5 years can visit with a parent from 9 to 11 am at the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue. No older children, please. Become a Volunteer Storyteller!
The Longmont Library Spellbinders are looking for volunteers to tell stories to students in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Storytelling is a dramatic art in which stories are told rather than read from books. Volunteers will receive training and access to extensive collections of stories and online resources. Sign Up for Winter Adult Basketball Leagues
Longmont Recreation and Golf Services offers year-round men’s recreational and leisure basketball leagues. Team and individual (free agent) Winter League registration is open until January 11 with games beginning January 14. The Recreational League plays on Wednesday nights, and the Leisure League plays on Thursday nights. Tree-cycling Available Through January 11
Through January 11 the City of Longmont provides four Christmas tree drop-off locations: Roosevelt Park – parking lot south of 8th Avenue, Garden Acres Park – west side of parking lot off 18th Avenue, Kanemoto Park – parking lot off S. Pratt Parkway, Centennial Park – east parking lot off Alpine Street. Please remove all decorations and lights from trees. You also can recycle your tree at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin Street, between 7:30 am and 4:45 pm, Monday through Saturday. Free Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge
Young basketball fans can exhibit their basketball skills when the City of Longmont hosts a Denver Nuggets Basketball Skills Challenge competition beginning at 1 pm on Saturday, January 3. It’s free and open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14 as of April 30, 2015. Top scorers in each age group will advance to a sectional competition. Top scorers at the sectional competition advance to the state championship competition and receive tickets to a Denver Nuggets game. Entry forms are available one hour prior to the competition at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. For more information, call 303-774-4800.

2015 Handgun Classes
The next handgun class at the Longmont Police and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Firing Range is from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday, January 31. This course is presented by professional instructors from the Longmont Department of Public Safety. Learn how to safely store, carry and shoot firearms through a combination of classroom and practical exercise. It is appropriate for the beginner to intermediate shooter.
