Coffee with Council is This Saturday
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, January 28, at Twin Peaks Golf Course, 1200 Cornell Drive. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Mayor Coombs and Council Member Santos are scheduled to attend. Under the Night Sky: Amazing Astronomy
Join the Longmont Astronomical Society from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Saturday, February 4, for an informative inside lecture and, weather permitting, outdoor viewing of the night sky at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. The Visitors Center offers free family-friendly seasonal programs focusing on history, nature and the environment. Limited seating is available. Parallel Lives: Beatrix Potter and Laura Ingalls Wilder
Register now to discover what Beatrix Potter and Laura Ingalls Wilder had in common. Born six months and worlds apart, children’s authors Potter and Wilder shared many characteristics that made them not only famous but unique for their time. Connie Neumann, a member of the Beatrix Potter Society and a board member of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Legacy and Research Association, brings her program “Rabbit Tales & Pioneer Trails: The Parallel Lives of Beatrix Potter and Laura Ingalls Wilder” to the Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue from 7 to 8 pm on Thursday, February 9. Registration for Longmont Summer Day Camps begins Wednesday, February 1, and continues on an ongoing basis. Recreation & Golf Services offers traditional, state-licensed summer day care for youth ages 5 (who have completed kindergarten) to 10 and a Tween LOCO camp for ages 11 to 13. Activities include swimming, park field trips and enrichment activities. SCOPE camps provide therapeutic programming for teens and adults with special needs. Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Longmont residents can safely and securely recycle private documents at this free event. Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, February 4. This is for residential documents only; business materials will not be accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. Free Landfill Drop Day
The City of Longmont is offering residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday, February 4. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversized loads and second loads will be billed accordingly. Please take a photo ID and a copy of your current utility bill to show that you are a City of Longmont customer. “Startup Roadmap” for Small Businesses
Plan the successful launch or growth of your business with the “Startup Roadmap” workshop from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, February 7, at the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, 528 Main Street. Instructors use the Business Model Canvas to identify key challenges you’ll need to address as your business grows. Attendees will begin a draft of their Business Model Canvas and understand how it serves as a foundation for a business plan, draft basic financial projections and understand cash flow vs. income, and more.
