Ward I Town Hall

City Council Meetings Move to Library
Beginning February 4, all city council meetings will be held in rooms A and B at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue, while the Longmont City Council Chambers are being renovated. Seating is limited, and the public is asked to arrive early for the 7 pm Tuesday night meetings. Planning and Zoning Commission meetings also are moving to the library at 7 pm on the third Wednesday of each month.

Celebrate the Chinese Year of the Rat
The Asian-Pacific Association of Longmont, in partnership with the Silver Creek Leadership Academy, presents the 10th annual Chinese New Year Celebration from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, February 8, at Silver Creek High School, 4901 Nelson Road. The community is invited to usher in the Year of the Rat with a special Lantern Festival. Enjoy cultural performances including the Chinese Lion Dance, taiko drumming, and kung fu presentations; a quarter mile of cultural and educational booths; live music; two art shows; robotics and virtual reality activities; and Asian food tasting. Help Determine the Library’s Future
The City of Longmont has begun a study to contemplate the future of the Longmont Public Library. The study is intended to discover what the Longmont community most wants and needs from its library and how those goals can best be achieved with potential funding structures. The outcome of this study will likely affect the Library and the community for decades to come. Windows to Wellness Fair
Keep your New Year’s resolutions going and join Recreation Services at the Windows to Wellness Fair from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday, February 8, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. This annual fair boasts a variety of vendors to give you the latest information on health and nutritional resources. Free fitness classes and health talks are presented throughout the event, and you can sign up for 10-minute sessions for $5 or 20 minutes for $10 with alternative wellness practitioners and holistic healers. Free Landfill Drop Day
The City of Longmont is offering residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday, February 8. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversize loads and second loads will be billed accordingly. Please take a photo ID and a copy of your current utility bill to show that you are a City of Longmont customer. Winter Walkabout Music Showcase
The Winter Walkabout Music Showcase is back for its second year from 2 to 10 pm on Saturday, February 1. Register for Summer Day Camp
Registration for Recreation and Golf Services’ Longmont Summer Day Camp and Tween LOCO Camps opens February 1. Operating out of the St. Vrain Memorial Building at 700 Longs Peak Avenue, campers ages 5-13 enjoy swimming, field trips, and weekly themed activities.
