Help Count the Homeless in Boulder County
The Cities of Boulder and Longmont, along with Boulder County, are recruiting volunteers to administer the annual Point-in-Time Homeless Survey (PIT) in the community. Bridge House, a local nonprofit serving homeless and low-income people, is coordinating community organization and volunteer participation countywide, on behalf of the county and cities. St. Vrain Creek Project: Land Survey Activities Begin Along Greenway
As part of the St. Vrain Creek Improvement Project (SVCIP) to create a 100-year flood channel through Longmont and restore and enhance the St. Vrain Greenway, City contractors will conduct land surveying activities beginning January 7. Work will begin at the west end of Longmont and move eastward over a period of three to four weeks. This initial survey work will be conducted on public property located along the St. Vrain Creek, including the St. Vrain Greenway, Golden Ponds, Rogers Grove, Izaak Walton Pond, Dickens Farm Park, and Sandstone Ranch. Winter Windows to Wellness Fair
Chase away your winter blues and blahs while you perk up your senses at this hands-on wellness fair from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, January 10, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. Sign up for 15-minute sessions with alternative wellness practitioners for just $5 each. Then, visit the Wellness Market for jewelry, locally produced items and more. City Council Open Forum
The January 20 city council meeting, beginning at 7 pm in the Council Chambers at 350 Kimbark Street, will be an Open Forum for residents to talk for 5 minutes each to council members about any topic on their minds. This is the only agenda item for this meeting; plan to arrive a little early to put your name on the list of speakers. The Winter Sprinter is Back!
Feed your competitive spirit and enjoy great camaraderie at the Winter Sprinter adult swim meet from 8:30 am to noon on Sunday, January 18, at Centennial Pool. There are a wide range of distances in all of your favorite strokes. The cost is $20 for preregistration and $25 on the day of the meet.
