Celebrate the Fourth with Music and Fireworks
Begin your holiday fun at noon on Monday, July 4, with a picnic and the annual free holiday concert by the Longmont Symphony Orchestra at Thompson Park, 4th Avenue and Bross Street. Then, at about 9:30 pm, enjoy the explosion of fireworks over Longmont. The best view is from within one mile of the Boulder County Fairgrounds. Handicap-accessible parking is available at the fairgrounds’ south Nelson Road entrance with permit. Special thanks to the Skyline Kiwanis Club, whose generous donation helps make this event possible.

Free Car Seat Safety Check

As many as half of all child car seats are installed incorrectly. Longmont Fire offers a free child car seat check from 2 to 7 pm on the second Wednesday of every month at Longmont Fire Station 2 at Mountain View Avenue and Hover Street. The next car seat check will be on July 13. For more information visit LongmontColorado.gov and search for “child car seat.”

Library Seeks Volunteer Drivers
The Longmont Public Library is seeking volunteer help from adult community members to keep its Homebound Delivery Service afloat. Volunteer drivers deliver library materials and spend a few minutes chatting with patrons. Duties include transporting bins of materials to and from the driver’s personal vehicle, driving to patron homes and retirement and` care facilities to deliver materials, picking up returns, and returning materials to the library for check-in. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check. Interested adults should call 303-651-8795
or email Debbie.Puzo@LongmontColorado.gov.

Oh, Say, You Can See – With a Working Power Line!
As you enjoy your Independence Day, Longmont Power & Communications wants to make sure your home is lit by more than just the rockets’ red glare. If you experience an electrical outage or any other issue with your power, please call either the outage line at 303-776-0011 or the main office line at 303-651-8386. These lines are monitored 24 hours a day so that we can dispatch crews to emergency calls – please do not use them after hours for routine business, such as billing questions. Stay safe and have a happy Fourth!
