It’s Time for Rhythm on the River
Embrace the cool evening air and enjoy activities and night light fun at Rhythm on the River, Longmont’s signature zero-waste event, as we celebrate the environment, the community, art and music from 6 to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14, at Roger’s Grove, 220 Hover Street. Black lights throughout the venue will fluoresce white clothing, and musical highlights include Flow Tribe and Head for the Hills along with other popular acts. Create your own art, play in the Dizzy’s Fun Center inflatables, paddle and climb at the Outdoor Adventure Land, and enjoy great food, beverages and fun for kids of all ages. City Council Open Forum
The July 17 city council meeting, beginning at 7 pm in the Council Chambers at 350 Kimbark Street, will be an Open Forum for residents to talk for 5 minutes each to council members about any topic on their minds. This is the only agenda item for this meeting; plan to arrive a little early to put your name on the list of speakers. Neighborhoods Invited to Participate in National Night Out
Have you considered bringing your street or neighborhood together? Getting to know each other is a great first step to becoming the eyes and ears of your neighborhood as you go about your normal activities. On Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018 from 6 to 9pm, neighborhoods throughout Longmont are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “35th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. Summer Fun for Kids at the Library
Enjoy summer fun all week at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. Start off with a make-and-take craft at Maker Mondays from 2 to 4 pm on Monday, July 16. Then, relax on the west patio from 10 to 10:45 am on Thursday, July 19, as Dan Crow performs “As the Crow Flies,” STEAM-themed songs from his travels, part of the Live! at the Library series. Head back to the library on Friday, June 20, for the free Friday Family Film “Paddington”; tickets are handed out beginning at 1:30 pm. Registration isn’t required, but children age 9 and younger must be accompanied by a dedicated caretaker. Find more details at bit.ly/LibKids.

Free Community Night at Sandstone Ranch
Bring your picnic, chairs and blankets to enjoy the scenery, lawn games and coloring table from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, July 17, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. The main event, featuring illusions, comedy and magic from Harwood & Woodward, Modern Day Vaudeville, begins at 6:30 pm. This is an outdoor family event; no pets allowed, and please consider carpooling due to limited parking. No registration is required. Youth Recycled Raft Race
Calling youth artists and engineers younger than 18! Build a boat completely of recycled materials and race other captains through the designated course at 10 am on Sunday, July 22, at Union Reservoir, 0461 Weld County Road 26. No motors allowed, but wind power is OK. Boat must be made completely of recycled materials; duct tape is the only exception. The entry fee is $20 per boat. Volunteer to Help People with Disabilities
City of Longmont Parking Enforcement needs volunteers to help keep disability spaces open for persons with disabilities by educating drivers and by issuing parking citations to offenders who park illegally. Tour Longmont’s Public Art
Art in Public Places will celebrate Art on the Move 2018-19 with two tours of new artwork followed by a dedication celebration on Saturday, July 14. At 2 pm join the five-mile StART Biking Tour or, at 4 pm, get in on the StART Walking Tour of public art downtown. Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, July 14. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill.
