Coffee with Council is This Saturday
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, July 25, at The Brew Creperie and Coffee Shop at 314 Main Street. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Sign Up for West Nile eNotifications
Every Sunday night during the summer, Longmont checks 16 different mosquito traps for West Nile mosquitoes. If it becomes necessary to spray for mosquitoes, it will take place on Thursday nights, weather permitting. Sunset Bridge Designs Nearly Complete, Fall Construction Planned
Design work on the Sunset Street Bridge replacement project is nearly complete. It is anticipated that final plan revisions and all environmental clearances will be finalized by mid-August. The new structure will be lengthened and widened to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, as well as designed to safely convey 100-year storm flows. This improvement is part of the larger St. Vrain Creek Improvement Project, the City’s extensive, multi-year undertaking to improve the resilience of the St. Vrain Creek against future flood events as well as restore the valuable community asset of the St. Vrain Greenway.
Learn How to “Be Ready” in an Emergency
Did you know that the City of Longmont offers a Be Ready presentation to civic organizations, workplaces, neighborhood groups and church groups that can help you learn how to prepare for an emergency? The presentation will give you and your group’s members information and tools to become part of the solution when disaster hits. Economic Council and the City of Longmont, will offer a workshop to help small business owners develop or refine their business plan. This class will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, August 4, at the Boulder SBDC Longmont office at 528 Main Street, and it’s free to prospective and existing small businesses in Longmont. Join Your Neighbors for National Night Out
Enjoy family activities and meet your neighbors and staff from Longmont’s Department of Public Safety at two National Night Out locations. From 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 4, take your picnic and lawn chairs to either Kanemoto Park at 1051 S. Pratt Parkway or Lanyon Park at 19th Avenue and Collyer Street. This is a great opportunity to strengthen your community and your neighborhood’s partnership with the Longmont Police and Fire departments. Longmont knows how to go green, with almost a quarter of the city’s energy coming from wind and water. If you want to “renew” your commitment even further, plug into the Renewable Power Purchase Program. Have 100 kilowatt-hours of your home’s electricity sourced from renewable energy for just an extra $2.96 a month, or source it all from renewable energy for an extra 2.96 cents per kWh.
