Backyard Wildlife at Sandstone Ranch
From 10:30 am to noon on Saturday, July 28, join volunteer naturalists at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, for a fun, hands-on outdoor program for all ages about animals seen there. Summer Fun for Kids This Week at the Library
Start your week of summer fun with a make-and-take craft at Maker Mondays, July 30, 2 to 4 pm. On Thursday, August 2 relax on the West Patio from 10 to 10:45 am, as Bradley Weaver performs Traditional and Original Folk Music for the Whole Family:, part of the Live! at the Library series. Head back to the library on Friday, August 3 for the free Friday Family Film, “Tale of Despereaux” (rated G). Tickets are handed out beginning at 1:30 pm. These programs will all be held at the Library at 409 4th Ave. Registration is not required, but all children age 9 and under must be accompanied by a dedicated caretaker. Sales and Use Tax Seminar
Do you have questions about the business sales and use tax in Longmont? A free seminar that will answer all your questions will be held from 10 am to noon on Wednesday, August 8, at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. “Whose Tools?” for Preschoolers
August is community helpers month at the Library! Preschoolers are invited to a series of special storytimes featuring different community helpers each week, from firefighters to police detectives to park rangers and public works helpers. These storytimes will be held at 10:15 am and again at 11 am each Tuesday and Wednesday beginning August 1 and will replace the regular preschool storytimes. No registration is required. No Motor Vehicle Services August 1-5
All Colorado motor vehicle title and registration services, including vehicle registration renewal, vehicle titling, International Registration Plan and ownership transfers will be unavailable August 1-5 to allow for technical upgrades. For more information visit mydmv.colorado.gov.

Free Nuggets Basketball Clinic
Youth ages 6-12 can learn basketball skills from former Denver Nuggets players from 1 to 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 8, at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. This free basketball skills clinic may also include Q&A and pictures with Denver Nuggets ambassadors who all are former Nuggets players. Plan Now for National Night Out
From 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, August 7, neighborhoods throughout Longmont will join together for the 35th annual National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. During NNO, Longmont residents will lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors. Many neighborhoods plan events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, contests and youth activities. An NNO Planning Kit is available at LongmontColorado.gov/PublicSafety (search “National Night Out”) to help you jump start local activities. National Night Out is cosponsored by the Longmont departments of Public Safety and Community and Neighborhood Resources. Register Now for Fall Adult Sports Leagues
Registration is ongoing for Longmont Recreation & Golf Services’ fall sports leagues for adults. Leagues are offered in coed kickball, outdoor grass coed volleyball, flag football, softball and basketball. Register as a team or as a free agent and we’ll get you connected! Volunteer to Assist the Police
The Citizens Volunteer Patrol (CVP) is welcoming new volunteers to serve as “eyes and ears” for the Police Patrol Division. Duties include radar patrol, high school parking lot surveillance and assistance to School Resource Officers, noise ordinance violation patrol, specific surveillance assignments, and more. CVPs always patrol in teams of two and participate in many community events. You must be 21 or older to volunteer.
