Final Middle School Night at Sunset Pool
Middle-schoolers and soon-to-be-freshmen are invited to a fun evening of music and water games at Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Ave., from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday, July 29. Preregister by calling 303-774-4700 or drop-in the day of. Students must provide proof of age or a school ID. The fee is $7/resident or $8.75/non-resident;
Responsible Pet Ownership Course
This fun, interactive course covers Longmont pet laws, essential safety tips, and the importance of training to keep your pet happy, healthy, and well-behaved. Get practical advice and easy-to-use techniques from the Longmont Humane Society. Event is free, but registration is required. Join us Thursday, July 31, from 6-7 pm at the Library. Free Concert: Bonnie & Taylor Sims

Public Safety’s Citizen Academy
Curious how heavy firefighting gear is, how it’s decided when to send out the SWAT team, or why firefighters drive the fire engine to buy groceries? Learn these answers and much more at the Longmont Public Safety’s Citizen Academy; you’ll enjoy an experience you won’t soon forget. Included are classroom presentations and discussion (every Wednesday in September) and a hands-on day for Public Safety at the Fire Training Center on Saturday, September 27. Memorial Building Maintenance Closure
Every year, the City’s recreation facilities close for maintenance on systems and equipment. The St. Vrain Memorial Building (700 Longs Peak Ave.) will be closed Aug. 4-9. During the closure, consider visiting the Longmont Recreation Center (310 Quail Road), Centennial Pool (1201 Alpine St.) and Sunset Pool (1900 Longs Peak Ave.). Longmont Museum’s Sunset Soirée
Join the Longmont Museum for their second annual gala on Friday, Sept. 5 from 6 to 9 pm. You’ll enjoy an open bar with signature cocktails, a three-course meal and live big band music with the Flatirons Jazz Orchestra. All funds raised will go toward supporting the major Museum expansion, including a dedicated children’s gallery. Individual tickets are $100 or support the Museum at a higher level with an entire eight-person table for $1000. Space is limited.
