It’s Time for Rhythm on the River!
From 5 to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13, embrace the cool Colorado evenings and enjoy activities and night light fun at Rhythm on the River, Longmont’s FREE signature zero-waste event that celebrates the environment, the community, art and music at Roger’s Grove, 220 Hover Street. Black lights throughout the venue will fluoresce white clothing. Free parking and shuttle service is available at the Boulder County Fairgrounds beginning at 4:30 pm. Main Street/River Corridor Open Houses
As we plan the future of Main Street and the St. Vrain River Corridor to make Longmont a national epicenter of science, technology, education and the arts, the City is looking for your feedback. Join us for one of three open houses where you’ll see the latest drawings and can let us know if we’re on the right track. Meetings will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 17 at the Longmont Library, 409 4th Avenue; from 1 to 3 pm on Tuesday, July 23, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue; and from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 24, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Can’t make a meeting? Complete the surveys at Engage.LongmontColorado.gov. Call 303-651-8601 for more information.

Parks, Open Space and Trails Seminars
The City of Longmont’s Parks, Open Space and Trails Division is wrapping up its summer educational series with four more classes: Attracting the Right Wildlife, 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 11; Roses Without Chemicals, 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Monday, August 12; Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 29, and Xeriscaping and Native Plants 8:30 to 9:30 am on Saturday, September 13. Learn more about each program and register at JoinUs.LongmontColorado.gov/Calendar.

TV Today at the Senior Center
Giant TV screens, smartphones that fit in your pocket, and video displays on many devices are now how many of us watch our favorite broadcasts. Using the airwaves and the internet, your smart device can serve up your favorite shows. Call 303-651-8411 to reserve your spot for this lecture and demonstration on the many ways to view content from 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Thursday, July 11, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. The cost is $2 for residents and $3 for nonresidents.

Americana Folk Music at the Library
The Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue is excited to host The Hollands!, an internationally touring family band with roots in the U.S. and Australia, from 7 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 18. The Hollands! have performed in more than 10 countries and are known for engaging audiences and rousing a sing-a-long with their intimate merrymaking. By the end of their performance you’ll feel like you’re part of the band. Register online at bit.ly/LibPrograms. No email? Call 303-651-8472.

Attract the Wildlife You Want, Deter the Rest
We love having songbirds in our yards and are delighted to see a deer in the neighborhood. But no one wants a skunk under the deck or squirrels eating the bird seed. Join Boulder County Extension Agent Sharon Bokan from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 11, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue, to learn about both sides of wildlife, how we can invite them onto our properties and how to not create problems. This program is free, but registration is required at JoinUs.LongmontColorado.gov.

Turn Bargains into Treasure with ThriftU
Master the art of thrift store upcycling with your ThriftU degree from the Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Avenue. In the second class of this series, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, July 10, crafters will learn to transform old books into home décor. Supplies will be provided, and anyone of any skill level age 16 or older is invited to participate. Seating is limited; register at bit.ly/LibPrograms. No email? Call 303-651-8472 to register.

The Employment Opportunities, Vendor and Employee Self Service portal applications will be down for system maintenance starting Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024 at 6 pm through Friday, Dec. 27, 2024 at noon. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience.
