Emerald Ash Borer Detected in Longmont
The invasive tree pest emerald ash borer (EAB) was confirmed in the City of Longmont. Due to the confirmation of EAB in Longmont, the City is suspending its removal and replacement efforts, and all identified resources will now be put toward protective treatment. Application on the first 300 trees will take place this summer. The focus will be on high visibility areas such as Thompson Park, Collyer Park, Sunset Park and Golf Course, Twin Peaks Golf Course and areas within Downtown Longmont. The City will not be treating private ash trees and recommends that residents take action now to assess and evaluate treatment for their trees.
Be Prepared During Flood Season
The peak season for creek flooding and flash floods in Longmont and surrounding areas runs from May through September. During this time, City of Longmont staff watch conditions in the area with a keen eye, including through the River Watch program, which conducts regular monitoring of conditions in water ways that have the potential to create flooding in Longmont. Visit LongmontColorado.gov/flood-info for information on flood preparedness. There, you can view live web cameras to monitor creek conditions, understand factors that can lead to flooding, learn how to be prepared, and, most importantly, find ways to stay informed.

Report Potholes This Summer
As the weather warms, changes in pavement can reveal potholes. Crews work throughout the year to identify and repair potholes, and you can help. Summer is the best time to complete permanent pothole repairs. If you see a pothole, let the City know so we can be sure it’s on the work list. Visit ServiceWorks.LongmontColorado.gov or call 303-774-4446.
