This Week in Longmont – June 14, 2019

Bike to Beverage Day
Ride your bike to one of many participating businesses on June 15 and sip on your favorite beverage with incentives to those who ride their bikes in. To receive the incentive, you need to show your bicycle helmet as proof of your ride. Before you go, call your favorite beverage business to confirm the incentive that is being offered. And the City would love to see a photo of you with your bike in front of the business that you visit. Post your photos on Facebook, and use the hashtag #LongmontBike. To see the list of participating businesses visit bit.ly/LongmontBikeMonth.

2020 Human Service Agency Funding
The City of Longmont is seeking requests for proposals for 2020 funding from private, public, for-profit, nonprofit, nongovernmental and governmental agencies that serve primarily low- and moderate-income Longmont residents. Applicants must be able to document that their services benefit a significant number of Longmont residents; agencies that operate countywide or regionally also must demonstrate how they successfully involve the Longmont community in planning and program development to most effectively address the needs of Longmont residents. For more information and to submit an application, visit bit.ly/LongmontHSfunding.

The main event, featuring illusions, comedy and ventriloquism from Murdock’s Magical Delights, begins at 6:30 pm. Summer Concerts at the Longmont Museum
From 6:30 to 8 pm on Thursday nights, June 20 through July 25, stretch out and enjoy some tunes from up-and-coming local bands and established regional and national musicians in the cozy confines of the Longmont Museum courtyard at 400 Quail Road. Lawn chairs and picnics are welcome – kids and families, too! Concessions and alcohol available for sale (only alcohol purchased on site is allowed). No concert July 4. The first concert is June 20 with Bonnie & the Clydes.

Button Rock Preserve Public Meeting
The public is invited to learn about the management planning process and to contribute ideas on the future of Button Rock Preserve from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 25, at the Parks, Open Space and Trails building at 7 S. Sunset Street. Can’t make it? Visit Engage.LongmontColorado.gov to learn more.

Chuck Wagon Dinner & Square Dance
You’re invited to a good ole-fashioned hoedown and some genuine cowboy grub in celebration of the Longmont Museum’s Ruckus Rodeo exhibition from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday, June 29. Hightail it on over to the Museum at 400 Quail Road to enjoy live fiddle and banjo, square dancing, and some tender vittles. Put on your fancy western duds, break out your bolo tie, and shine up those boots; prizes will be awarded for best dressed! Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for students and seniors, and $17.50 for Museum members. Buy tickets online at LongmontMuseum.org or call 303-651-8374.

Volunteer at Rhythm on the River
Every year more than 100 dedicated, engaged, community-minded volunteers step up to make Longmont’s Rhythm on the River summer festival happen. This year’s festival is July 12 and 13 at Roger’s Grove, 220 Hover Street. Volunteer shifts are available between 4:30 and 11 pm each day, and all volunteers receive an official keepsake T-shirt to wear at the event.
